North Brookfield student council earns recognition; paid internships, STEAM night and Unity Week planned

The high school reported career‑pathway activity: juniors and seniors will tour FlexCon on Feb. 6 as part of an “innovative pathways” program. The administration said FlexCon offers a paid internship program that has in past years led to full‑time jobs for students who complete the internship. The transcript also referenced work begun last year with a company named Foxconn; the administration described FlexCon internships as paid positions and said about five students completed an internship last year.
School staff said they are applying for multiple grants to subsidize paid internships and that the school counselor (Miss Earhart) is working on applications to cover student internship costs so more students can participate in paid positions during the fourth quarter.
Other student‑program items included:
• Unity Week: scheduled for the week before February break to highlight inclusion for students across identities and abilities.
• STEAM night: scheduled for March 25 from 6–8 p.m., featuring student projects and hands‑on displays.
• PBIS: the middle school has implemented Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports lessons tied to the district’s graduate profile; staff reported grade‑level competitions and named the 8th grade class as recent winners.
No formal committee votes were recorded on programming. Staff asked the committee to continue supporting student presentations and said they will share more details about internships and grant outcomes as they become available.
