TDOE previews teach-all platform, Farm to School network and Local Foods funds; deadlines set for junior-chef and equipment grants

Marlea reminded districts that junior chef applications were due Friday the 17th and that equipment grant applications were due Feb. 21 and should be emailed to the school.nutrition@tn.gov inbox with the exact subject line required by the application. She said fresh fruit and vegetable program (FFVP) applications would open in TMAC in mid‑February.
Marlea described a new resource on the Tennessee Department of Agriculture website that gathers information to connect local farmers and school nutrition programs. The agency is also creating a Tennessee statewide Farm to School Network to share resources and partner support across regions, she said. Marlea said more Local Foods for Schools funds will be available this year and that the program team is coordinating with the Department of Human Services on administration for farm‑to‑child‑care efforts.
On training and professional development, Marlea said the state is finalizing an on‑demand learning management platform called TeachAll with an anticipated launch in April; the platform will host required annual topics and additional interactive on‑demand trainings.
She also reminded districts about the Coordinated School Health Institute (March 5–7), regional meetings at the end of the month, director workshops in February and the state junior chef competition on March 6–7. Districts were told to contact Lindsey (Lindsey/Lindsay Paul referenced in materials) for junior chef application extensions if needed because of weather-related closures.
Marlea asked districts to watch the training calendar for added sessions, including a March 27 training on application-packet changes.
