Facilities update: door locks, paving, grease trap, HVAC and storage-shed audits slated for summer work

District facilities staff reviewed a broad set of projects at the Jan. 29 Safety and Operations Committee meeting, calling out an interior door-lock replacement program, ESCO-related HVAC and unit-vent work, a planned high-school paving project and several storage and site-improvement items.
Staff said the interior door-lock project will begin at the high school with second-shift work to minimize disruption; new serialized keys will be assigned to individuals and collected annually by building secretaries. The timeline given set a not-to-exceed date of Aug. 15 for completing the door-lock roll-out across campuses.
"We're finally getting ready to kick off the interior door lock project...they're gonna be working 2nd shift, so we can knock this out efficiently...the keys are coming serialized. I'm working with Mr. Ganesh to then assign those assets, AKA the keys, to an individual so they are accountable for those keys," a staff member said.
Facilities staff said ESCO work is scheduled this summer, including Univent work at Middle School East starting June 16 and other projects that will push work up to teachers’ return. Staff described rooftop HVAC replacements as final units from prior ESCO rounds and said West will have a full roof overhaul while high-school references were for rooftop HVAC units (not roof membranes).
The committee was told that student parking-lot paving at the high school is scheduled to begin June 23 and that a grease-trap replacement at the high school will be coordinated the same week; the grease-trap vendor quoted $19,744. Staff also presented an audit of district storage sheds and said they will prioritize the top 10 sheds for replacement or standardization, with per-shed costs the staff estimated at roughly $10,000–$12,000 each.
Staff said they are preparing an RFQ for a football-equipment storage structure after an initial steel-building quote exceeded $200,000; an architect will produce plans for township permitting and competitive bidding. Card access for the Schwenksville playground was listed as another board request with a preliminary cost of about $55,100.
Ending: Staff asked the committee to forward the list of board-action items for February, including lock upgrades, camera and fire-panel contracts already discussed, paving and grease-trap replacement, and noted that many projects depend on summer scheduling and vendor lead times.
