Perkiomen Valley steering committee advances comprehensive plan draft; board submission set for early February

District staff updated the Education Committee on development of the Perkiomen Valley School District’s comprehensive K–12 plan following the state’s ready-set-go process.
Presenters said the district completed data collection and committee meetings and is translating findings into action steps and priorities. Staff highlighted recurring priorities that have surfaced across committees and data reviews: math achievement and connections to STEM pathways; uneven participation in enrichment and extracurriculars; differences in Tier 1 instruction across buildings affecting achievement; and continued gaps for English Learner and special-education populations. The plan also prioritizes culture and climate, physical and emotional safety, and belonging.
Administrators said the district is working to align the new plan with prior goals where appropriate, and noted the state template recommends up to four goals but the district may add or restructure goals based on steering-committee recommendations. Presenters said steering-committee meetings next week would finalize whether an additional goal remains separate or is integrated within the four-goal structure.
Timeline presented to the committee: the draft comprehensive plan will be submitted to the board on Feb. 3 for review, followed by a 28-day public viewing and comment period; the district expects to return a final draft for board approval on March 10 and then submit the approved plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) by the state deadline. Staff said the plan would include goals, action steps and metrics aligned to district priorities; no final budgetary commitments were presented at the committee meeting.
No formal board vote occurred at the committee meeting; staff framed the update as informational and said they will return with the draft and public-comment materials according to the timeline.
