Pamela Hernandez, with Real Transportation, told the Aransas County Commissioners Court that the company expanded weekday service hours and introduced a same‑day zone called Real Flash to increase access for workers and medical riders.
Hernandez said Real Transportation’s systemwide trips rose from 19,365 in first quarter 2024 to 24,838 in first quarter 2025, and Aransas County trips rose from 1,069 in Q1 2024 to 2,308 in Q1 2025. "The trip is $2," Hernandez said, adding that vehicles are ADA‑accessible and equipped with interior and exterior video and audio recording and real‑time GPS.
The presentation outlined service changes and operational details. Real Transportation expanded weekday demand‑response hours from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. to 5 a.m.–8 p.m. to accommodate early work shifts, dialysis and medical appointments. Real Flash, introduced before the Christmas holiday, provides same‑day trips inside two local zones Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m., without a prior eligibility process; riders call the transit office for same‑day pickup.
The court heard operational details: the provider operates 82 vehicles systemwide, said Hernandez, with 36 drivers, six operations/dispatch staff and 13 support staff in maintenance, safety, finance, human resources and mobility management. Hernandez said Real Transportation serves nine counties and offers intercity trips to Victoria and San Antonio. She described local office space on Market Street in Rockport where drivers can park units and staff can perform outreach.
During the presentation, Martino Renelas, transportation director for Real Transportation, described efforts to coordinate with dialysis centers and other community stakeholders to set pick‑up times that better match riders’ appointments. Hernandez emphasized rider feedback used to set the expanded hours and the Real Flash program.
Court members and community attendees praised the provider’s response during recent local emergencies, including transporting residents displaced by a recent RV park fire and supporting warming‑station operations during winter weather. The court did not take action on the presentation; the item was informational.
Real Transportation provided a contact phone number for local reservation and information: 361‑668‑3158.
The court moved on to other agenda items after the update.
