Planning commission announces new assistant county engineer; commissioner Chip Pinion resigns after 16 years

During staff reports at the Jan. 27 Rutherford County Regional Planning Commission meeting, county staff announced the hiring of Jared Bonner as an assistant county engineer. Staff said Bonner previously worked for the Tennessee Department of Transportation and will oversee new construction projects, subdivisions and county road work intended to improve service to residents and the development community.
Later in the meeting Commissioner Chip Pinion delivered a public statement announcing his resignation from the planning commission effective that day. Pinion said he had served roughly 16 years and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the county. He told the commission his involvement with other county boards, including the consolidated utility district, would continue and thanked members and staff for the experience.
The commission accepted the announcements and adjourned the regular meeting to begin a scheduled work session.
