Town Administrator Stearns briefed the Blythewood Town Council on routine administrative items including a new town website, an on-time pavilion project at the soccer complex, the start of a land development ordinance update, and permitting for a new parcel on Sandfield Road.
Stearns said town offices will be closed Feb. 17, 2025, for Presidents’ Day and encouraged residents to review the town’s newly updated website and provide feedback to staff. On capital projects, he said the soccer field pavilion project remains on schedule and on budget with an anticipated completion date of May 2, 2025; building slabs have been poured and the building was expected to be enclosed within days of the report.
On planning matters, Stearns said staff had begun the land development ordinance adoption process and had received recommendations from the Board of Architectural Review and the Board of Zoning Appeals on Jan. 23, 2025. He said the planning commission will consider those recommendations in February and staff anticipates forwarding a final recommendation to council with first and second readings expected in February (specific dates not specified in the meeting record).
Stearns also reported staff and Heritage Engineering are obtaining driveway permits for a new parcel on Langford Road and completing an SCDOT permit for Sandfield Road that will allow construction of driveways and a crosswalk; the Langford permit was nearing completion.
Council asked no substantive questions and accepted the administrative report for information.
