Perkiomen Valley committee reviews minor policy updates including rates and procurement thresholds

Perkiomen Valley School District policy committee heard a series of routine policy updates covering fiscal and administrative items, including updated cost-per-bill figures, procurement threshold amounts and a small wording change recognizing the district chief of police.

Mr. Weaver, speaking for administration, said the district is updating Policy 606 to reflect a revised “cost per bill” figure and reminded the committee that “the rates that the school board just approved last month, will not take effect until July 1, 2026.” The administration also reviewed Policies 702.1, 703 and 704 and said those required little or no change; those policies were described as matching peer districts’ language.

On Policy 709, administration recommended a single wording change “to change from the safety and security person to recognize Chief Millers as the PV's chief of police,” the transcript records. Committee members treated these as formalities and indicated the items could move toward first reading.

Procurement thresholds were discussed as part of a broader set of updates driven by state law; Mr. Weaver said revised dollar figures determine when competitive quotes or bids are required. The committee was told these dollar figures reflect state law and regulation-driven changes rather than a substantive policy rewrite.

Committee members asked no substantive questions on these items during the meeting. The committee proceeded to other policy topics. Meeting minutes and next steps were noted for posting, and the chairman said the next meeting would be Monday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.
