Judge reports on 911 addressing, appraisal district resignation and courthouse water issue

During the Jan. 27 meeting the County Judge reported several administrative items: a forthcoming presentation on 911 addressing by the Central Texas Council of Governments, the resignation of the interim chief appraiser at the Mills County Appraisal District, and a brief water shutoff at the law-enforcement center caused by a backflow-valve issue.
The judge told commissioners that the Central Texas Council of Governments, which assists with 911 addressing, plans to meet with the county in the next one to two months to discuss the distribution and control of 911-related funding collected through phone bills. "What these cops are looking at doing is forming their own 911 addresses where the money comes to them," the judge said, adding that the change could allow regionally collected funds to be managed more locally.
On the appraisal district, the judge said Hannah Bradley, who had served as interim chief appraiser for roughly three months, resigned and that the appraisal district is again seeking a chief appraiser and an agricultural appraiser. The judge quoted a reason given for the resignation as a need to "be home with a family member in Lampas."
The judge also reported that the law-enforcement center experienced a roughly 45-minute water shutoff related to an internal sprinkler-system backflow valve; facility staff inspected and reported no ongoing issues.
No formal actions or votes were taken on these items during the Jan. 27 meeting.
