Mills County approves radio tower lease, adds sheriff's office and Gold Lake VFD to license

The Mills County Commissioners Court unanimously approved a radio-tower lease agreement on Jan. 27 that the county said was revised to add the Mills County Sheriff's Office and the Gold Lake Volunteer Fire Department to the tower license.
Commissioners discussed a revised version of the lease that reflects that the volunteer fire department holds the base license for other attached devices and that the county sheriff's office will be included in the agreement. "I don't have my original paperwork included to add the Mills County Sheriff's Office and the Gold Lake Volunteer Fire Department," the county judge said while introducing the item. Commissioners confirmed the change was included in the document before taking the vote.
Central Texas Cooperative Communications' General Manager Wiggley attended and answered technical questions about site operations. Wiggley described back-up power arrangements: "We're gonna put our own meter for our radio. We'll run the sheriff's office in bar park radios through our meter and it has its own generator," he said, explaining how electricity and generator service will be separated for reliability.
The court voted to approve the lease. Commissioners made no additional changes to the agreement at the meeting and did not set a separate timeline for installation or generator work during the session.
