City Council approves auto-repair permit for New England Auto Detailing at 8 Bennett Street to add tire service

The City Council approved a petition on Jan. 14 allowing New England Auto Detailing and Accessories Corp., operating at 8 Bennett Street, to offer tire retail and installation services in addition to detailing. Owner Nelson Pena told the council his business has been affected by prolonged construction on Bennett Street and that adding the service would help recovery. Frances Martinez, president of the North Shore Latino Business Association (representing nearly 900 members), spoke in support and asked the council to approve the petition to assist the business.
Councilor Hogan moved approval; the council adopted the motion by roll-call vote with all members voting yes. The council record shows the council asked that applicant return to the podium if additional technical questions arose; no conditions beyond standard licensing and permitting requirements were recorded in the meeting minutes.
