Licensing committee grants several driver licenses, approves renewals and multiple event canning dates

At Jan. 14 Licensing Committee meetings the panel approved several new taxi operator licenses, tabled two applicants, approved license renewals en bloc and granted multiple 'canning' (fundraising) dates for neighborhood groups and school teams.
The Licensing Committee met Jan. 14 and took multiple routine licensing actions. The committee approved new taxi-operator licenses for Gudell Chavez, Jose Garcia Carrero, Fernando Rodriguez and Tima Chavez; a license for Jose Cerda Almonte and another for a Mr. Lopez were tabled when applicants were not present. The committee handled several renewals as a block and approved them unanimously.
The committee also approved dates for street 'canning' (fundraising) for multiple groups, granting an adults-only request for Gowdy Park Association on April 18 and July 4, 2025, and approving an additional set of eight requests taken collectively. Those additional dates included events for the Lynn Veterans Council (Feb. 21–22), Lynn Glasgow Baseball (Apr. 4–6), Classical boys volleyball (Apr. 11–13), Westland Little League (May 16–18), Eastland Little League (May 24–26), Lin Tech cheerleading (June 27–28), Lynn Bulldogs (Aug. 14–16) and Lin Tech swim team (Nov. 7–9). Committee leaders reminded organizers that canning on city streets must be requested through the mayor’s office and approved by the licensing committee to avoid conflicts with businesses and previously granted dates.
When applicants were present the committee moved and approved the licenses by voice vote; where an applicant was absent the committee moved to table the item. Approved licenses will be ready for pickup in the city clerk’s office after the usual processing time.
