Tennessee House adopts adjournment resolution, passes consent calendar and schedules joint convention

The Tennessee House of Representatives adopted House Joint Resolution 37 to adjourn the organizational portion of the 114th General Assembly and to set the date to convene the 2025 regular session, passed the consent calendar on final consideration and recessed to prepare for a joint convention to elect constitutional officers.

House leaders placed the adjournment resolution and consent calendar at the top of the organizational session. Leader Lambert moved adoption of House Joint Resolution 37, and the speaker put the question on the resolution; the speaker declared the resolution adopted after the voice vote. Jeremy Zachary moved passage of the consent calendar on final consideration under House Rule 50; Miss Clark recorded the vote as 96 in favor and zero opposed, which the speaker said constituted a constitutional majority and declared the calendar passed.
