Trustees agree to appoint Terry to senior commission after interview

Trustees for the Village of Hoffman Estates signaled unanimous support Wednesday for appointing Terry to the village senior commission after an interview during the Jan. 27 meeting.

Terry, who said she retired May 31 as an executive director with experience in aging services and described prior work on a “dementia friendly” community effort, told trustees she applied after being encouraged by staff and community members.

Trustees asked several brief questions about Terry’s background and interest. Trustee Kinney and Trustee Arnott thanked Terry for applying; Trustee Mills said her experience would be a “great addition” to the commission. Trustee Stanton commented that Terry may be “overqualified” compared with some current commissioners.

The board agreed to finalize the appointment at the Feb. 3 board meeting; trustees said Terry would be notified and need not attend that session.
