BRA board approves $1.05 million budget transfer for Lake Granbury dam repairs and stop-log work

The Brazos River Authority Board of Directors on Jan. 27 approved budget transfers totaling $1.05 million to support the De Cordova Bend (Lake Granbury) 'Trifecta Project.
Blake Kettler, executive projects portfolio manager, said the board previously authorized a contract with engineering firm Walter P Moore to extend the life of the De Cordova Bend Dam through a three-part 'trifecta' scope: stop-log replacement, buttress repairs to embankment retaining walls (buttress 1 and 44), and a comprehensive tainter gate and hoist system evaluation.
Kettler told directors the fiscal year 2025 budget had been conservative pending a firm scope, fee and schedule; because timing differences emerged, staff proposed transferring $150,000 from the FY25 Bell House Drought Preparedness Project capital budget to the Lake Granbury buttress 144 repairs budget, and $900,000 from the same Bell House budget to the Lake Granbury stop-log replacement project. Kettler said the Bell House project would not fully utilize its FY25 allocation and staff recommended reallocating funds to cover the De Cordova timing needs.
The board adopted the budget-transfer resolution by roll call vote. Directors were told the transfers reallocate approved capital funds between projects and are intended to align budgets with current project schedules, not to increase total program spending.
