North Penn High School renovation: Phase 1 bids, permits and student input on design and furniture

Design and construction teams updated the North Penn School District facilities committee Jan. 27 on the North Penn High School renovation schedule, permitting milestones and early procurement decisions as Phase 1 moves toward bids and site work.

Nut graf: Phase 1 bids were rescheduled from Jan. 30 to Feb. 3 to give contractors more time to price large addenda; the design team said an NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permit remains a critical milestone with a currently estimated mid-summer timeframe and the project team is coordinating transformer configuration with PECO because a potential solar installation changed the required transformer format.

Project schedule and bids: CHA representatives Jamie Lynch and Colin Case told the committee that Phase 1 bids were originally scheduled for late January but the district moved the bid date to Monday, Feb. 3 to allow contractors more time to account for addenda. The team said bid openings will begin at 2 p.m. on Feb. 3. Lynch said pre-bid attendance was strong and several addenda have been issued.
