Mister Summers, a district staff member who reviewed the proposed language, told the committee the recommended revisions came from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and internal review and legal counsel. “Before an officer would be removed from their position, the board as a whole would offer them due process, would give them notice of the fact that the board intends to recommend that they be removed, and then a hearing, before the board to contest whatever the reason,” Summers said, describing the change proposed for Policy 5 (organization).
The proposed changes recommended for referral to the work session would: update terminology in Policy 5, add a due-process step for removal of board officers, formalize a process for disenrolling nonresident students in Policy 202, expand Policy 254 to explicitly include National Guard and Reserve family members, and add resignation-notice language and authority for the superintendent to accept resignations in Policy 308.
