The Alhambra City Council approved appointments to external boards and commissions Jan. 13, filling five vacancies that opened following recent council restructuring.
Lauren Miles, Alhambra city clerk, told the council the December 9, 2024 council meeting had prompted reassignments after Jeff Maloney and Noia Wang were seated; her staff report listed current appointments and five vacancies for the League of California Cities, Independent Cities Association, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments Transportation Committee, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), and the Alhambra Historical Society Museum. "Specifically, there are 5 vacancies at this time to be filled," Miles said.
Mayor Wong said she would continue to serve on several regional bodies and volunteered to take the League of California Cities, San Gabriel Valley COG Transportation Committee and SCAG seats and to serve as an alternate on the Independent Cities Association and the Alhambra Historical Society Museum Board. Council Member Catherine (Catherine identified herself when asked) nominated herself for the museum alternate seat and another council member accepted that nomination.
Council Member Andrade Stadler moved to approve the list of current appointments and the newly filled vacancies as presented in the staff report. Council Member Maloney seconded. The roll call vote was unanimous: Maloney — yes; Lee — yes; Andrade Stadler — yes; Maaza — yes; Wang — yes. The motion passed.
City clerk Miles said a staff list and brief descriptions of each external board and commission were attached to the staff report for council reference. The approvals will be reflected in the city's records and in external organizations' membership rosters.
