The Santa Barbara Fire and Police Commission took several procedural and substantive votes during its Jan. 23 meeting.
The commission approved minutes from the Nov. 21, 2024 meeting; commissioners moved and seconded the motion and the minutes passed. The commission also approved nominations for leadership: Commissioner Herlinger was approved as chair and Commissioner Hill as vice chair. The vote was recorded in the meeting as passing; no roll-call tallies were read into the record in the transcript.
The most substantive vote on the agenda concerned item 7: staff recommendations to raise maximum caps for light-duty towing and vehicle storage. Following a staff presentation and discussion with tow operators, the commission voted to accept the recommendation; that motion passed unanimously.
Other agenda items were heard without formal final actions at this meeting and will return for further consideration or reporting at later meetings.
