City manager announces Buckeye Memory Cafe, marathon results and Buckeye Days details

The city manager provided detailed results for the Buckeye Marathon, which was held Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Buckeye Municipal Airport. Staff reported 1,635 runners and participants from 37 states plus Canada and Brazil. The event drew a mix of race distances and modes: 294 completed the full marathon, 385 finished the half marathon, 240 ran 10K races, 551 ran the 5K, 135 ran the 1-mile, and 30 participated virtually. The city manager said 258 of the runners were City of Buckeye employees. The event raised $20,000 in cash and received more than $7,000 in in-kind donations; net proceeds benefit the youth scholarship fund.
The city manager also previewed Buckeye Days, set for Saturday the 25th from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. downtown along 6th Street Plaza and Monroe Avenue. The event will feature a parade that includes a cattle drive, food vendors and Chief Bob Costello—s 4th Annual Car Show at the Buckeye Elks Lodge. The city manager said Senator Sena Kerr will serve as grand marshal this year.
