The Remediation and Redevelopment External Advisory Group approved a meeting-strategy proposal on Jan. 23 to encourage engagement by piloting multi-site hybrid meetings, pairing training and education topics with regular EAG meetings, and reserving networking time during meeting days.
Under the proposal, the DNR will encourage in-person attendance by opening a room at alternate DNR offices (for example, Green Bay or Oshkosh) so remote participants can attend at a nearby office rather than travel to the main location. The department will pair a short training or education topic (for example, the PFAS-method update delivered at this meeting) with the EAG meeting day so attendees can take advantage of a training session and local networking opportunities. Subgroups will continue to meet as needed; the vapor-intrusion subgroup was retained as a quarterly ongoing meeting.
Supporters said the changes should lower travel barriers for consultants and local staff, help bring newer staff into the conversation, and allow joint presentations by DNR and private-sector practitioners. Andrew Mott, a newer EAG member, and Shar Debeest of DOT both said the pop-up location idea and training track would help bring additional participants and younger staff to meetings. The proposal passed following a hands-up approval on Zoom; the DNR will publish updated meeting dates and a calendar.
