The Arizona House Committee on Commerce voted unanimously to adopt its committee rules, with one change that sets a 5 p.m. deadline for filing amendments the day before a committee hearing.
Committee Chair and members said the committee rules largely mirror rules used across other House committees but that rule 7 โ the amendment filing deadline โ was changed to 5 p.m. to allow last-minute updates after weekend events. Committee staff said the change is intended to provide flexibility for members and sponsors while preserving the notice that colleagues and the public receive.
Vice Chair Representative Michael Way moved to adopt the rules and the motion passed on a voice vote. Committee staff said other standard rules, including strike-everything filing deadlines, remained in place and that the rules will be filed with the Chief Clerk under House Rule 9(C).
The committee did not discuss further modifications and immediately moved on to bill consideration.
