Director reports on Hoopla removal, new circulation manager and warming-site use

Library Director Steve told the West Bend City Library Board that the streaming/e-content service Hoopla is no longer available to patrons as of Jan. 1 and that area libraries have similarly dropped or limited the service due to rising costs. He said a Greenfield library post noted an 864 percent price increase as a reason for dropping Hoopla.
Steve introduced Lindsay, the library’s new circulation manager, who briefly appeared on camera and was welcomed by board members. Steve also said the library has continued to serve people seeking a warm place during recent cold days; he estimated about 20 people were in the building during a midday check.
The director invited board members to Library Legislative Day on Feb. 11 and said Amber from the library staff would present the board with the library’s social media strategy at a future meeting. Board members discussed coordinating staff reports and noted leadership-team meeting changes to improve reporting cadence.
