The Ventura County City Selection Committee on Jan. 24 elected a chair and vice chair and approved multiple appointments across county advisory boards and commissions.
Elections: Committee members elected committee member Kildee as chair. The nomination was made by committee member Chavez and seconded by committee member Kavanaugh; the motion passed by voice vote with no opposition. The committee also appointed a vice chair (nominated and approved during the meeting); the transcript records the motion and unanimous voice approval but the nominee’s name appears in the record with inconsistent spellings.
Appointments (votes at a glance): - Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board (two regular seats, no term end dates): Mikaela Perez and Pedro Travis were appointed by unanimous vote after candidate statements and brief committee comments. - Association of Water Agencies (regular director, March 6, 2025–March 4, 2027; and alternate director for same dates): Pedro Chavez was appointed director (7 votes) and David Tennyson was appointed alternate (10 votes). - Remote Access Network Board (mayor required): Janette Sanchez Palacios was nominated and, by a vote reported as 10 in favor, appointed as the regular board member (no term end date specified). - Ventura County Transportation Commission: Danny Anderson was appointed as the citizen representative for a four-year term beginning Jan. 31, 2025 (see separate article for full coverage).
All recorded outcomes were announced by the committee secretary at the meeting; staff will update rosters and notify the affected boards and commissions.
