Anderson, who described herself as a frequent public transit user and a disability-access advocate, told the committee accessibility and simplifying regional connections are priorities. "If I wanted to get from Sydney to Ventura, it would take me about 3 hours of free transfers," Anderson said, emphasizing the barriers people with disabilities face navigating fragmented transit. Public commenter Mike Pettit urged the committee to appoint Anderson because she represents a lived-experience perspective on accessibility.
Victor Conley also addressed the committee and described decades of experience in municipal and regional transportation and planning. Committee members praised both candidates’ qualifications, but after voting Anderson received all 10 city votes cast and was declared appointed.
The secretary announced Anderson received 10 votes and is appointed as VCTC citizen representative for the four-year term; the committee directed staff to notify VCTC and update committee records.
