Board enacts no-parking restriction on Old Oregon Trail near soccer park
Summary
The Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance on Jan. 14 establishing no-parking zones on Old Oregon Trail between Buttercup Lane and 1,300 feet south of Buttercup Lane to address sight-distance and safety concerns at a county soccer park.
The Shasta County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Jan. 14 to adopt a no-parking ordinance on Old Oregon Trail (County Road 3H02) adjacent to a county soccer park.
Public-works Director Troy Bartolomeo presented the item and said the ban covers both sides of Old Oregon Trail from Buttercup Lane to 1,300 feet south of Buttercup Lane. He told the board there is sufficient on-site parking at the soccer park but that people often park along the roadway, creating sight-distance issues on a rural road and exposing children to vehicle traffic.
Supervisor Harmon moved to approve the ordinance and Supervisor Kellstrom seconded. No members of the public asked to speak on the item and the board approved the measure 5-0.
The ordinance will be added to the county code’s list of no-parking zones and county traffic crews will install associated signage and enforcement measures.
