At its Jan. 21 meeting, the Norwalk Successor Agency, Housing Authority and City Council approved consent calendars and several individual items. The council also adopted an amendment to the municipal code on signs and approved a fee waiver for a community food distribution event.
Successor Agency and Housing Authority - Successor Agency: four consent items were approved on a unanimous voice/roll call. No speakers addressed those items. - Housing Authority: three consent items were approved. Commissioner Hernandez recorded an abstention on item 68785; other members voted aye.
City Council consent calendar and modifications - The City Council approved an 18-item consent calendar with a minor modification to item 9 (Gateway Cities appointment changes) and held item 15 over for a future meeting. Roll call recorded ayes from Council Members Ramirez, Rios, Valencia, Vice Mayor Perez and Mayor Ayala.
Ordinance on exempt signs - The council unanimously approved Ordinance No. 25-1747, an amendment to Norwalk Municipal Code Section 17.03.170 to clarify that signs placed in the public right-of-way will be removed. Roll call: Ramirez, Rios, Valencia, Perez and Ayala voted aye.
Lions Club food-distribution fee waiver - The council approved waiving a $160 application fee for a Lions Club community food distribution scheduled for Jan. 25 at the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder parking lot. Staff said the event expects about 500 participants (organizers have in past years prepared for larger numbers) and the city will supply traffic-control delineators and volunteers. Roll call was unanimous.

Council made one planning commission appointment: Chris Macias was appointed to the Planning Commission.
