Mayor Lula Davis Holmes and the City Council on Jan. 21 unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (Sanitation District No. 2), West Basin Municipal Water District and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board to coordinate workforce development for a large regional water treatment project proposed in Carson.
The MOU formalizes how the agencies will collaborate on K-12 outreach, internships, mentoring, job-training programs and local hiring pipelines so Carson residents can compete for construction and long-term operations jobs related to the Pure Water project.
