The St. Mary's County Board of County Commissioners voted on March 6 to approve the employment contract submitted by staff and signed by John Savage to serve as county administrator.

Commissioner Mattingly moved that the board approve the employment contract as presented; Commissioner Manley seconded. Hearing no discussion, the board approved the motion by voice vote. Commissioners and others offered congratulations; the board and staff discussed referring to Savage in an interim role in remarks.

The motion authorized execution of the employment agreement as included in the meeting packet; staff said they will proceed with the personnel and administrative steps required under the contract.
