Los Gatos High Student leaders described an Idea Surge entrepreneurship event (Shark Tank‑style) and named student winners of awards for business concepts; they also previewed spring club day (about 115 clubs), a Japanese Art and Film Festival on Saturday with a student performance kickoff and film screening, a swing night dance set for Jan. 25, a junior class talent show (Friday Night Live) on Feb. 7 and Allstate music performances in Sacramento. Student speakers invited trustees and the public to attend.
Los Gatos site administrators also described semester‑start safety drills that included earthquake and fire scenarios and expanded training for allergic reactions, naloxone (Narcan), seizures and AED responses. Athletic and non‑athletic program teams practiced emergency response scenarios; site leaders said the drills are repeated at the start of each semester.
Saratoga High leaders reported a forthcoming Speak Up For Change assembly, an 8th‑grade Welcome Night planned for Jan. 29 to introduce incoming students to campus culture, and a community day of service organized for Monday (11 a.m.–1 p.m.) that includes projects such as wig‑making, food distribution and campus outdoor work. Saratoga administrators encouraged community participation.
Both sites also noted a math placement policy change intended to reduce student stress and minimize schedule shifts at the start of next year; the district has posted slides, a short recorded presentation and will host a parent night Jan. 22 to explain the change.
