South Dakota House advances committee reports on multiple bills, defers remainder of consent calendar to Jan. 27

Pierre — The South Dakota House of Representatives on Jan. 24, 2025, received committee reports that advanced multiple bills to further consideration, approved the adoption of the House journal and voted to defer the balance of the consent calendar and the remainder of the day’s calendar to Monday, Jan. 27, the chamber recorded.

Committee chairs reported the results of their panels’ earlier work on a number of bills, including committee action to defer one bill to a later legislative day and to give “do pass” recommendations on several others. John Hanson, chair of the Committee on Legislative Procedure, presented the committee’s report and moved its adoption; the chamber approved the journal by voice vote. Hanson said, “All errors, typographical or otherwise, are duly marked in the temporary journal for correction,” when presenting the committee report.
