Mister Shepherd, the treasurer, told the committee the district recommends keeping student registration fees flat for 2025–26 after a 5% reduction the previous year. He said the district is exploring additional fee reductions in future years but believes holding fees steady is prudent now while monitoring state funding.
Shepherd told members that, after last year’s reduction, registration-fee revenue grew; he attributed part of that increase to better outreach to families who do not qualify for fee waivers and to improved business-office practices rather than the fee change alone. He noted the fees help defray costs for instructional and technology items and their maintenance.
Board members signaled support for placing the recommendation on the consent agenda. No formal board vote on fees was recorded in the Committee of the Whole transcript; the item was set for consent consideration at the next board meeting.
