Lakewood City Council voted unanimously on Jan. 21, 2025 to appoint Angelina Hamilton Steiner to the at-large council seat, filling the vacancy through Dec. 31, 2025. The council then administered the oath of office.
The Committee of the Whole reported that it interviewed several candidates during December and January and voted to amend Resolution 2024-71 to insert Steiner’s name. Committee members praised Steiner’s volunteer leadership and community work; Vice President Baker and other members urged candidates who were not selected to remain engaged. The council moved to adopt the substitute resolution and recorded a voice vote in favor; the motion passed.
Following the vote, Judge Neff administered the oath of office. Steiner repeated the oath, pledging to support the constitutions and laws of the United States and Ohio and to perform the duties of at-large member of council for the unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2025.
Council members welcomed Steiner in floor remarks before and after the vote; several members commended the quality of all applicants and thanked community members who applied. A handful of public comments were heard in support of the appointment, including a live comment from Nathan Luzanich offering congratulations.
With the oath complete, Steiner took her seat and council recorded receipt and filing of the oath and related Committee of the Whole report.
