Berrien County commissioners voted to approve a broad set of board and committee appointments and the consent calendar during the meeting, with one abstention noted on a listed vendor requisition.
The consent calendar was moved and supported; a commissioner stated they would abstain on Resolution B-250-1062 / reference number 75912 for Rev Excavating and asked that abstention be recorded in the minutes. The clerk was asked to verify the abstention for the record.
Separately, the board approved the bulk list of appointments recommended by committees, excluding the three nominees to the Berrien County Planning Commission, which were removed from the omnibus motion for separate debate and vote. The omnibus appointments motion was moved by Curran and supported by Vollrath and carried by voice vote.
Other committee reports noted included the human services and administrative committee activities, renewal of an annual property-use request for a "coffee and cars" event on multiple dates, and a note that the county will circulate invitations to the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber business recognition breakfast on Feb. 21 at Lake Michigan College's Mendel Center.
The board also approved two waivers for the road department: repair at Lakeshore Body Shop and Everett County Electric for labor and materials to install ceiling fans at the Benton Harbor garage; these were concurred with by finance committee staff and approved as waivers.
The meeting recorded roll calls on the omnibus approvals and the clerk was directed to reflect the abstention in the official minutes.
