Waukegan CUSD 60 schedules dual-language info session, GROTC benefit luncheon and registration windows for 2025–26

Nicholas Alatsakis, director of communications for Waukegan CUSD 60, used the district’s weekly update for the week of Jan. 20 to announce several community events and enrollment dates, including a dual-language informational meeting, the Waukegan High School GROTC drill team’s benefit luncheon and registration windows for the 2025–26 school year.
The announcements included a thank-you to presenters from the North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic for leading a “know your rights” safe-haven presentation and information about a second session scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 13, which the district said will run about one hour and be followed by a question-and-answer period.
Alatsakis said tickets are available for the Waukegan High School GROTC drill team’s annual benefit luncheon, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brookside campus. Tickets are $13 per person and may be purchased in advance by contacting Sergeant First Class Nasser or Mr. Kelly, or at the door on the day of the event.
The district will hold an informational meeting for families interested in the dual-language program at the Welcome Center on Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. Enrolling families for preschool and kindergarten for the 2025–26 school year will have the option to enter a lottery for the dual-language program, Alatsakis said. He described the two-way dual-language model as one in which native English and native Spanish speakers are integrated in the classroom for instruction.
On enrollment timing, the district said registration for the 2025–26 school year is now open for current eighth graders through the parent portal. Registration for prekindergarten students will begin Feb. 28; registration for all other grades will open March 10. The district said a list of required materials and additional registration information is available on its website.
Alatsakis closed the brief update by encouraging families to consult the district website for details and event tickets.
