The Senate Committee on Veterans, Emergency Management, Federal and World Affairs adopted its proposed committee rules for Jan. 21, 2025, at the start of an organizational meeting Wednesday.
Vice Chair Thatcher moved to adopt the proposed committee rules dated Jan. 21, 2025; the chair said, “Seeing none, the rules have now passed and are adopted.” The committee proceeded to introduce its members and staff, including new Senator Mark Meek and (excused) Senator Brock Smith. Senator Meek identified himself as the senator from Senate District 20 and said he previously served in the U.S. Air Force.
The committee chair, Senator Sarah Manning, and Vice Chair Thatcher each offered brief remarks about the panel’s priorities for the session. Staff introductions included Kevin Rancic, legislative policy and research office (LPRO) analyst assigned to the committee, and Omar Saradi, session committee assistant.
The organizational business closed after staff and member introductions and the committee opened scheduled informational presentations from state agencies.
The meeting adjourned with no additional formal actions recorded.
