Animal shelter plans advance; architect plans prompt discussion of dog-washing station and layout changes

Staff noted the initial draft lacked a dedicated area to wash animals — for example, a tub or dog-washing station — and asked the architect to add washing and cleaning facilities. The plans have been redistributed to staff and printed for review; staff are tracing and rearranging spaces to optimize workflow and will forward meeting notes from the architect to commissioners.
Commissioners said they expect to see revised drawings soon and that staff will continue coordinating with outside stakeholders and stakeholders who attended a recent meeting with the architect. No formal actions or budget approvals for the shelter were taken at the Jan. 23 meeting; staff will return when revised plans and any contract or funding requests are ready for consideration.
