KIPP Texas Executive Committee approves November minutes, moves to executive session

HOUSTON — The KIPP Texas Executive Committee unanimously approved the minutes of its November 2024 executive committee meeting and then adjourned into executive session during its Jan. 23, 2025, meeting.

The meeting opened at 4:00:02 p.m. with Ethan Phillips, a member of the KIPP Texas Executive Committee, presiding briefly before handing the meeting over to Allison Thacker, board chair. Thacker conducted a roll call and asked for a motion to approve the November 2024 executive committee meeting minutes. Phillips moved to approve the minutes, saying, "So moved." A seconder was not identified on the record. Thacker called the vote and the motion passed unanimously.

The committee then adjourned to executive session at about 4:03 p.m. under Texas Government Code §551.071 for consultation with the board attorney, §551.074 for deliberations regarding appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties or dismissal of officers and employees, and §551.072 for deliberation regarding the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property. The public portion of the meeting resumed and the meeting was adjourned at 5:32 p.m.

KIPP Texas staff identified during the meeting included Seba Ali, chief executive officer; Jenna Moon, chief of staff; and Ellen Spalding, legal counsel. Committee members present on the record were Allison Thacker, Ethan Phillips, Alex Sharma and Darla Whitaker; Lauren Gore was noted as expected to join. The chair said the committee had "covered all of our business for today" before adjourning and indicated members would meet again next month.
