Lee County will update Lee Plan references to Southwest Florida International Airport master plan

Joe Serresino of Lee County planning introduced CPA 2024-00008 at the Jan. 22 zoning hearing, a county-initiated text amendment to update references to the Southwest Florida International Airport master plan in the Lee County Comprehensive Plan.
The amendment modifies policy 1.1.12 to reference the updated airport master plan as required by Florida statutes and amends policy 47.3.3 to clarify acronyms and to reflect the role of the board of port commissioners in port-authority actions. Serresino told the board the changes are intended to ensure consistency between the Lee Plan, the airport master plan, and state statutes without changing airport boundaries or allowable land uses.
Staff and the Local Planning Agency recommended transmittal of the amendment. A board member moved to approve the staff and LPA recommendation to transmit; another board member seconded and the motion carried. No public comment was recorded for this item during the hearing.
