Council approves modified consent agenda; adds two councilmembers to interview committee

The Shakopee City Council approved the consent agenda as modified at its Jan. 21 meeting after Councilmember Whiting requested pulling item 5g for discussion. The council then approved the consent agenda with that item removed.

Staff read the consent items into the record; they included adoption of the public and roadside memorial policy (5a), a change order for Canterbury Commons internal roadway improvements (5b), a memorandum of understanding with the Hennepin County WMD tactical response team (5c), approval of council meeting minutes (5d), settlement of professional fees for Sand Venture design work (5e), an abatement order for a hazardous property at 2405 Lane (5f), a vacation accrual MOU for Shakopee police captains and sergeants (5h), authorization to bid the 2025 pavement reclamation project (5i), declaration of one squad car as salvage property (5j), acceptance of the voluntary dissolution of the Shakopee Fire Department Relief Association (5k), a purchase agreement for weather stations (5l), and acceptance of an Alliant Engineering proposal for an MDOT Safe Road Zones grant (5m). The record listed those items in the staff memorandum.

Separately, Councilmember Whiting moved to approve mayoral appointments with a change that placed Councilmembers Lara and Contreras on the boards & commissions interview committee in place of Councilmember Delaney and himself; the motion was seconded and passed.

There was no separate council action on the pulled item 5g recorded in the hearing excerpt; the consent agenda passed as modified by voice vote.
