The Aransas County Commissioners Court authorized the county judge to execute a required condition under the state contract to complete the county's 2025 renewal of its ArcGIS software subscription.
Staff said the renewal is processed under a state contract and that the formality the vendor requested includes a limited liability clause that caps the vendor's liability to amounts related to each client's paid subscription. Staff said the cap mentioned in discussion appeared in the vendor form and was in the range of roughly $15,000 to $20,000, smaller than the overall statewide subscription pool.
"It's a limited liability clause that limits to only, what we've paid in basically for the subscription... they're only limited to... each individual client," a county staff member said during the discussion.
The court approved the authorization by voice vote; staff said this action was a formality necessary to complete the vendor's renewal process under the state contract.
No specific change to the county's recurring budget for software was described in the meeting record; staff characterized the vote as completing a vendor-required formality to finish the renewal.
