County public-works staff told the board SHA filed a quick-take on Aug. 14 and deposited funds with the clerk of court in the amount of $7,550. Staff said approximately $6,588 represents the fee-simple taking and roughly $1,000 covers a temporary easement; the deposit also included a statutory interest component. County staff recommended the commission president be authorized to sign the offer of just compensation and to instruct the county attorney or president to execute withdrawal and deposit paperwork with the clerk of court.
Why it matters: Accepting the deposit is a procedural step that permits the county to take the funds and proceed with property and utility coordination necessary for the Route 237 project. Staff said the appraisal reflects market conventions used by the county for similar right-of-way transactions.
