Commissioners set Sept. 4 effective date for growth policy and related land‑use ordinances

Following adoption Aug. 19, the board set Sept. 4, 2008 as the effective date for an annual growth policy resolution, zoning and subdivision text amendments affecting adequacy-of-public-facilities rules, and a resolution establishing school service areas and student-yield measures.
The Board of County Commissioners on Aug. 26 established Sept. 4, 2008 as the effective date for four related land-use actions previously adopted Aug. 19: a resolution adopting the annual growth policy, zoning-ordinance text amendments (Z-08-06) modifying adequacy-of-public-facilities requirements, subdivision-ordinance text amendments (S-0801) and Resolution 08-41 establishing school service areas and student-yield calculations.
Department of Land Use and Growth Management staff asked for the Sept. 4 date to allow one additional TEC (technical evaluation committee) submission of minor subdivision plans that would be exempt from the adequacy-of-public-facilities requirement before the new rules take effect. Staff said that the legislative package and effective date will give applicants clarity and allow the county to implement the new APF (adequacy of public facilities) processes.
Commissioners voted to set the effective date with a unanimous voice vote.
