Dyersburg council approves minutes, three beer permits, HVAC replacement and dumpster bid

The Dyersburg City Council voted to approve meeting minutes and several municipal and business-related items at a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at Dyersburg City Hall.
Council members approved the minutes from the Jan. 6 meeting and passed three beer permits for local businesses, all of which the police chief recommended, and for which the council heard no public comment. The council also awarded a low bid for a rooftop HVAC replacement at the water plant and accepted a contract for dumpster boxes for the sanitation department.

The police chief reported that each beer-permit application met the city—s setback requirements for off-premises consumption where applicable and that the on-premise permit for Slicks Hideaway is for a long-standing local establishment under new ownership. The mayor noted the public notices for the permits were placed in a newspaper of general circulation (Jackson Sun) to satisfy Tennessee Code Annotated requirements for public advertisement; the council said the paper insertion schedule caused a previous delay in placing items on an earlier agenda.
