The Sebastian City Council on Jan. 22 approved first reading of Ordinance O‑25‑03 to annex 0.9163 acres described as Industrial Park Boulevard into the city; council set the second reading and potential adoption for May 14, 2025.
City staff said the annexation corrects a 1987 clerical error in the previous annexation ordinance and would place the private road within city corporate limits to match surrounding city land and to allow a future planned unit development application to proceed. “It turns out that Industrial Park Boulevard is, actually meets and bounds descriptions to parcels, and one of the parcels was left off that 1987 ordinance,” staff said in a presentation to council.
Staff clarified the annexation covers only the private unplatted road and that the road will remain private after annexation. The annexation is not dependent on approval of the subdivision; however, staff said the second reading was scheduled for May 14 to align with planned hearings before the planning and zoning board for the rezoning, future land‑use map amendment and conceptual plan.
Council approved first reading by roll call: Council member Dodd — yes; Council member Nunn — yes; Mayor McPartland — yes; Vice Mayor Jones — yes; Council member Dixon — yes. The motion carried.
