Sen. Fillmore outlines sunset reviews for education programs; board demands clarity on SB99 data portal and teacher‑pay model

Senator Fillmore told the Utah State Board of Education Legislative Board that Senate Bill 102 would place statutory sunset‑review dates on several small programs and create a pathway for funds to flow to a flexible allocation if the legislature later decided to discontinue a program.

"I put the language in there about where the money goes to ensure that it stays in public ed and it generally gets distributed in an unrestricted way on based on enrollment," Senator Fillmore said when asked about the bill’s intent. He added that the language is intended to ensure legislative oversight through periodic interim committee reviews rather than immediate repeal.
