San Luis council approves nearly $3 million membrane purchase for West Wastewater Plant expansion

He said the consultant evaluation ranked Kubota Membrane USA highest; the recommendation memorandum cited a proposed price of $2,998,000 for the membrane system.
Perez said staff is seeking approval now because equipment delivery can take an extended period. He told the council the manufacturer’s delivery lead time would take “between 38–50 weeks.” The council approved a motion authorizing the purchase “in an amount not to exceed $2,998,000” and directed staff to finalize contract terms; the approval is structured to allow the expense to be spent over the next fiscal year.
Why it matters: The MBR system is a core treatment technology for the plant expansion and is the first of three major procurements. Securing long-lead equipment early aims to keep the expansion schedule on track.
