The Lee County Board voted to refer two petitions to the Zoning Board of Appeals and to send a county code text amendment to the Planning Commission. Separately, the board approved a special-use permit with conditions to allow a minor auto-repair business at a rural property in Marion Township.
The board moved petition 25-P-1636, filed by property owners Kevin and Shelly Rod for 2506 Shaw Road in West Brooklyn (Brooklyn Township), to the Zoning Board of Appeals. The parcel was described in the meeting as 4.15 acres and zoned AG-1 Rural Agriculture District. The motion to send the petition to ZBA was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also moved petition 25-P-1637, from the same owners and address, to the Zoning Board of Appeals. That petition sought a special-use permit for construction and farm machinery sales and services; it was likewise described as a 4.15-acre AG-1 parcel and was sent to ZBA by motion and approved by voice vote.
A county-initiated petition, 25-PC-77, was moved to the Planning Commission. The petition seeks to amend Title 11, Chapter 4 (Storm Water Management) of the Lee County Code of Ordinances. The board moved and seconded the referral and approved it by voice vote.
On a separate matter, the board approved a special-use permit for property identified by PIN 12-14-16-300-1, commonly known as 823 Sterling Road, Dixon, Marion Township. The petition (recorded as 24-P-1634) requested a special use to operate an auto-repair business under the county's minor auto repair classification. The parcel was described as 5 acres in AG-1 Rural Agriculture District. The approval included the conditions set out in the board packet; the motion to approve was moved by Mr. Reid and seconded by Mr. Friel and then approved by voice vote.
All referrals and the special-use approval were recorded as motions carried during the meeting; no roll-call tallies were provided in the transcript for these items.
