Christopher Neighbors, chief executive officer of PEAK Community Services, told Logansport council committees that his organization now owns a half city block that formerly housed Tipton School and wants the city to vacate a north–south alley that runs between that block and Wright Street.
Neighbors said PEAK received the donated property after the school was demolished and has built two duplexes facing Wright Street. He told the committee that the alley "runs north and south" through the parcel and that "we own that entire half city block, and we wish to vacate that alley that runs north and south." Neighbors also said necessary easements and utility approvals had been included in the submitted paperwork.
City staff confirmed the alley vacate application and the supporting materials, including overhead maps, were in the application packet. Committee members asked whether required easements and utility sign‑offs were in place; staff indicated the dig/design and easement commitments were included in the package.
Committee members voted to move the alley‑vacate request forward to the next meeting for a formal vote and directed city staff to ensure any outstanding utility easements and encumbrances are resolved before that vote.
