The Berkeley County Commission opened a public hearing Jan. 23 on proposed amendments to the county’s subdivision ordinance intended to correct clerical errors and reinstate previously agreed-upon lot-size, setback and buffer language.
County planning staff said the amendments primarily correct omissions and revert selected provisions to match the 2009 ordinance text where appropriate. Staff reported limited public comment: one written submission from resident Kim Mattioli of 639 Holden Drive was received and added to the record; no members of the public spoke at the hearing.
Planning staff and commissioners thanked participants in the amendment process, including developers and the Planning Commission roundtable, and described the changes as noncontroversial. Laura (county planning staff) said about eight to ten sheets of tracked changes were included and that the edits restored earlier provisions. The public hearing was opened and then closed with no further public comment; staff will correct header dates and page numbers and provide a finalized ordinance for adoption at the next meeting.
